Job: Settlement Worker
37.5 hours a week - Temporary Full Time

The role of a Settlement Worker is to facilitate the adjustment, adaptation, and integration of newcomer students and families during their initial years in Canada by:

Providing orientation on Canadian culture and the school system in BC
Facilitating communication between parents and school personnel
Assisting families to access community resources and government programs
Qualifications include:

Completion of a two-year diploma in Child & Youth Care from a recognized college/institution, or completion of two years of university course work in Psychology or Sociology.

Knowledge of Canadian and cross culture issues and the ability to assist with the bridging of cultures will be essential.

In addition, applicants must understand the process of acculturation. The ability to develop and maintain relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members is critical.

Oral and written fluency in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.

A valid BC driver’s license and business use of personal vehicle is also required.

We offer $27.73 per hour plus 16% in lieu of benefits. 37.5 hours a week.
