Welder (TIG)

Peregrine, operating for over 38 years, is the largest manufacturer of custom high-end retail environments in Western Canada. Serving clients primarily in the retail and banking industries, Peregrine has worked with leading brands, including Saje, Lululemon, Kit and Ace, Aritzia, BMO, Vancity, and MEC.

In 2017, the company acquired Acorn Wood Designs. Acorn was founded in 1984 and specializes in precision architectural millwork for the hospitality industry. Its high-quality woodwork can be seen in many restaurants throughout Canada and USA including Joeys, The Keg and Earls.

We are adept with hardwoods, laminates, solid surfaces, plastics, glass, lighting, metals and print. Our expert teams specialize in creating unique fixtures, merchandising systems and signage in our 50,000 sq/ft facility in the heart of Metro Vancouver.

We are looking for a skilled Welder to cut and join our metal department. You will be working with steel tubing, sheet metal and stainless to build table bases, wine racks and many other custom elements for our retail and restaurant clients.

Responsibilities

Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
Weld components using TIG welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
Requirements

Must have TIG welding experience
Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG and MIG welding)
Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
Attention to detail
Wage/Salary: $20-$27 per hour (commensurate with experience) plus profit sharing and dental/medical benefits

Job Details: Full-time position. Monday to Friday. Morning and Afternoon shifts available. Opportunity for apprenticeship training is available.
